On March 9, 2026, the opening event of the 4th International Consumer Protection Week was held in Tbilisi. The week is organized by six regulatory agencies and aims to raise awareness of consumer rights protection in Georgia.

Approximately 200 guests attended the opening event, including representatives of the executive and legislative branches of government, the public and private sectors, non-governmental organizations, international partners, and industry experts. Representatives of eCommerce Association-Georgia also attended the opening event. During the meeting, together with the heads of regulatory agencies and foreign experts, participants discussed the current state of consumer rights protection in Georgia, the progress achieved, and the existing challenges.

International Consumer Protection Week is dedicated to World Consumer Rights Day, which is celebrated annually on March 15. Within the framework of the week, various informational and educational events will take place from March 9 to 16 in Tbilisi and across the regions of Georgia. It is worth noting that the Law of Georgia on Consumer Rights Protection has been in force since June 1, 2022, aiming to ensure a high standard of consumer protection in the country. The law also serves as an important instrument for fulfilling the obligations set out in the EU–Georgia Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union.

The main goal of the week is to highlight the importance of consumer rights protection and further raise public awareness in this area.
