eCommerce Marketing Terms Every Marketer Should Know

1️⃣ SEO (Search Engine Optimization) - The process of optimizing a website for search engines to improve visibility and increase traffic. The goal is to rank on the first page of Google, allowing you to reach a larger target audience.

2️⃣ PPC (Pay Per Click) - An internet marketing model where advertisers pay each time their ad is clicked. Simply put, a brand pays only when someone clicks on their ad, effectively "buying" visitors to their site, which results in organic traffic.

3️⃣ CTR (Clickthrough Rate) - A metric used to determine how well an ad performs. It is calculated by dividing the number of clicks an ad receives by the number of times it is shown. Higher CTR means better ad performance.

4️⃣ ROI (Return on Investment) - A measure of the profitability of an investment. The formula is (Revenue - Cost) / Cost. For example, if you earned $10,000 from a $1,000 investment, your ROI would be 0.9, or 90%.

5️⃣ Content Marketing - A strategy that involves creating valuable and relevant content to attract and engage an audience. This can include articles, videos, podcasts, etc., to build expertise, increase brand awareness, and keep your business top-of-mind.

6️⃣ Social Media Marketing - The use of social media platforms like Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook to promote a brand and offer products/services.

7️⃣ Lead Generation - The process of attracting potential customers and sparking interest in future sales. A "lead" is someone who shows interest in your product/service but isn’t yet ready to buy.

8️⃣ Conversion Rate - The percentage of site visitors who complete a desired action, such as making a purchase. It is calculated by dividing the number of converted users by the total number of visitors and expressed as a percentage.

9️⃣ A/B Testing - A method of comparing two versions of a webpage or app to determine which performs better. Also known as split testing or segment testing, it helps identify the most effective version.

🔟 CRM (Customer Relationship Management) - The process of managing interactions with customers using CRM software. It focuses on testing system functionality, security, and usability to ensure it meets business needs and provides a positive user experience.

Understanding these terms will help you navigate the complexities of eCommerce marketing effectively and plan your strategies more accurately!
